    I was driving through Brodie Creek on my way to Woodlands Edge the other day and saw a swarm of wasps flying around the corner of a house. This can be a concerning situation. I looked online to see where they nest and what we can do about them.

    The five common nest locations are under roof awnings or behind shutters, hanging from tree branches, fence posts & play sets, hollow tree trunks or stacked wood, and Yellow jacket nests are often hidden underground, so check your lawn & mulched areas. In addition, here are 6 tips for treating the nests: Treat at dusk or dawn when they are least likely to be active, wear gloves & long sleeves, spray Raid Wasp & Hornet Killer to kill the entire nest, When spraying, make sure you stand away from the nest and not directly underneath it, spray with the wind, and never attempt to treat nests alone.

    Woodlands Edge is a sustainable subdivision in West Little Rock located between Bowman Road and Kanis Road. A quick drive through the neighborhood (and around the round-abouts) will make it obvious why the name "Woodlands" was chosen. The developers paid special attention to preserve as many trees and green space as possible. There is an extensive walking path through the subdivision where you are almost guaranteed to see wildlife (deer, squirrels, rabbits, etc). The subdivision has a very active Property Owners Association, numerous neighborhood events and a community pool, clubhouse, tennis courts and playground. There are several neighborhoods inside of Woodlands Edge, including Meadows Edge, Tall Grass, The Woods, Foxfield, etc. Home prices range from the high $200k's to almost $600k for the homes to the west on larger lots. The home styles would be considered contemporary/ranch, consisting mostly of brick construction with stone and wood accents. Residents that live in Woodlands Edge say the convenient location and sense of community are the main reasons they enjoy living there.
